The Department of Information Science conducts research primarily focused on issues related to information users, information behaviour and its various determinants and contexts. This perspective also leads to the development of research interests in various aspects of information research theory and methodology, contemporary scholarly communication, and issues related to information visualisation. The department also explores selected topics in information management, particularly information systems and services from the user perspective.
