The Chair in Book and Its Functions in Social Communication derives its name from the traditions of what is known as the Polish bibliological school, which places the study of the book within the context of its social functions and role in social communication. On the one hand, the Chair carries out research on selected historical aspects of publishing and the book market, the form of books and historical collections (including private ones), and the history of book-related institutions (especially publishing houses and libraries). On the other hand, its researchers are interested in the latest information and communication technologies used by these institutions today (including augmented reality, artificial intelligence and holographic techniques) as well as the book in the digital information and communication environment of contemporary society.
