Graduate of Library and Information Science at the JU (1986); PhD (1992) and habilitation (1997) in the humanities at the Faculty of Modern Languages of the University of Warsaw. Specialist in scientific information, information retrieval languages and systems; certified documentalist (1991). Associate Professor at the University of Silesia in Katowice (1999–2003, 2010–2011) and at the Pedagogical University of Krakow (2011–2012). Awarded the title of Professor of Humanities on 12 May 2011.
